Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Map Legend:

  • Red Area: district boundary

  • Pins: district buildings

  • Can bus stop locations be outside of the school district boundaries?

    • No. We only transport students within the Bentley Community School District. See above Boundary Map.

  • How do I arrange bus transportation for my student?

  • Will bus stop locations for students be directly in front of their address?

    • Sometimes. We typically only provide door-to-door service for preschoolers, kindergarteners, or students who have complicated medical needs. Otherwise, bus stop locations will be placed nearby within the neighborhood of the address specified.

  • How will I be notified about bus stop location and time information?

    • Notifications will be communicated in 3 ways:

      • Email messages for specific route & stop information announcements.

      • Text messages for general alert notifications (i.e. cancelations, delays, driver substitutions).

      • Waypoint Parents App for live bus tracking.

    • Notifications require that accurate up-to-date email addresses and mobile phone numbers are kept on file. These can be be provided in the following ways:

      • Parents/Guardians can update this information with ParentVUE or by contacting school offices.

      • Child Care Facilities must submit & update this information with the Child Care Facilities Form or by contacting the Transportation Department.

  • Why does my student need to be at the bus stop 5 minutes early?

    • Early Arrival: Not all scheduled students ride everyday, especially on bad weather days. This may cause some stops to be skipped, therefore causing stops later along the route to occur earlier than planned.

    • Early or Late Arrival: Unpredictable events like accidents, traffic, trains, weather, and other conditions may also cause stop times to occur earlier or later than planned due to rerouting or delays.

  • How do I request a bus stop location change? For example: My student is dropped off in our neighborhood, but now needs to be dropped off at a child care facility.

    • Parents/Guardians must confirm all bus stop requests 2 full days before the stop change is required by contacting the Transportation Department.

  • How do I cancel bus transportation for my student?

    • We strongly encourage cancelling bus transportation if your student no longer requires it. Our buses are often near capacity and other students may need the seat.

    • Parents/Guardians must cancel bus transportation by contacting the Transportation Department.
