At the annual Young Author Story Hour, these 1st time authors got all rave reviews on writing, illustrations and reading, from a very discerning audience of parents, grandparents, aunts, young siblings, babysitters….

Barhitte Elementary School staff fundraiser: Tat the Staff! Information is on the flyer and the original flyer with listing of staff was sent home with students. Questions? Please call (810) 591-9661.

Please note that the wrong calendar for Bentley Community Schools was shared yesterday. The attached version from 2025-05-28 (V5) shows the correct homecoming information: October 3rd is the game and October 4th is the dance. We apologize for any confusion.

With the cold and wet weather today, the annual Kindergarten walking trip to the fire station needed to look a little different. Thankfully our Burton Firefighters are super flexible and helpful so our Kindergartners still got to learn all about fire safety and were still even able to tour a fire engine.

What happens when you dip a dandelion (commonly known around here as “love flowers”) that have gone to white seed heads straight into water and pull it out? Some little scientists did that experiment in class the other day, and it led them to experimenting on their own in a puddle at recess. They tried yellow dandelions, other flowers, dipping them more than once…

Kona Ice will be here for Barhitte's Field Day which is next Friday, May 30th! Prepay orders are being accepted through May 29th.

Learning looked very different this morning without electricity. Here
are a couple pictures of some of our students reading by lantern
light. They also read “scary” stories and sang songs around a pretend
campfire, learned about the discovery of electricity, and made real
life connections with history and how things were different before
electricity was discovered. We are all very thankful electricity was
discovered! There was much celebration when it was restored....your
very flexible teachers and staff, the most!

Barhitte Families,

These Kindergarteners have big plans for their future!

Last Wednesday, our Kindergartners learned about what living things need to survive and made their own terrariums. We are hoping to see some growth in the next couple weeks! Thank you to Longway Planetarium for helping out students learn these important science lessons!

Families ordering trees-
There was an issue with the shipping of our trees. They will be shipped next week, and will be white pine trees! They should arrive mid-week and will be delivered to Barhitte. They should be sent home with students. If you are expecting a tree and do not have a Barhitte student, an email will be sent to you when they arrive!

All 5 of our caterpillars emerged from their chrysalis’ and we were able to release them on the playground this week. It was very interesting to watch the whole process over the last few weeks!

The Buy One Get One Free Spring Book Fair is coming to Barhitte next week!

An educator from the Flint Institute of Arts came for the 1st of 3 special Art lessons with our Kindergartners. They learned about color, pattern, and used a new medium to make their own masterpieces.
In other exciting news, one of our butterflies finally emerged from it’s chrysalis! We are anxious for the other 4 and to release them on our playground!
