Dear BMS Parents/Guardians, As we approach the standardized testing season, I wanted to take a moment to share some valuable tips to help our students prepare effectively for their upcoming assessments. Whether it's the PSAT for our 8th graders tomorrow or the M-STEP for the rest of the middle school starting next week, adequate preparation can make a significant difference in performance. Here are some tips to support our students in their preparation: 1. Review Test Format and Content: Familiarize yourself with the format and content of the test. Understanding the structure of the exam and the types of questions that will be asked can help alleviate anxiety and improve confidence. 2. Practice Regularly: Encourage consistent practice sessions leading up to the test. Utilize practice tests and materials available online or through educational resources. Regular practice not only reinforces learning but also builds endurance for the length of the exam. 3. Time Management Skills: Time management is crucial during standardized tests. Teach students how to pace themselves effectively so they can answer all questions within the allotted time. Remind them to skip difficult questions and come back to them if time permits. 4. Focus on Strengths and Weaknesses: Identify areas of strength and weakness through practice tests. Allocate more time to improve weaker areas while maintaining proficiency in stronger subjects. 5. Healthy Habits: Encourage students to get plenty of rest and eat a nutritious breakfast on the day of the test. Adequate sleep and proper nutrition can enhance cognitive function and concentration. 6. Stay Positive and Confident: Emphasize the importance of maintaining a positive mindset. Remind students that they have prepared diligently and are capable of performing well on the test. Confidence can significantly impact performance. 7. Utilize Available Resources: Take advantage of resources provided by the school, such as study guides, workshops, and tutoring sessions. Our faculty and staff are here to support students in their preparation efforts. 8. Manage Test Day Stress: Help students manage test day stress by encouraging relaxation techniques such as deep breathing exercises or visualization. Remind them that feeling nervous is normal and that they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed. By following these tips and strategies, our students can approach standardized testing with confidence and readiness. Together, as a supportive community, we can help our students achieve their full potential. Thank you for your ongoing support and dedication to our students' academic success. Respectfully, Mr. Bednarski

Bentley Middle School is the perfect balance of academic rigor and personalized attention. Our size allows us to provide students with the challenges and opportunities they need to grow intellectually, while still ensuring that every student is valued and supported as an individual. We pride ourselves on creating an environment where academic excellence is celebrated and each student’s unique strengths are nurtured. One of the highlights of our school year is our end-of-year Positive Behavior Field Trips, where students who exemplify hard work, dedication, and positive behavior are rewarded with exciting trips to local attractions. These trips, including visits to a Loons baseball game, Michigan's Adventure, and Cedar Point, offer our students a chance to celebrate their achievements and make lasting memories with their peers. At Bentley, we believe in recognizing students' efforts both inside and outside the classroom, helping them feel motivated and appreciated.

Bentley Community Schools Transportation Changes We are making two announcements today to give parents/guardians a heads-up about upcoming changes to transportation. First, we are making mid-season updates to our bus routes. Some students no longer need bus services, and new students have created the need for new stops. This has resulted in stop changes that may affect stop times and may include new route names: Changes will be finalized and announced on the afternoon of Monday, February 24th. The new stop schedule will begin on the morning of Tuesday, February 25th. Recognizing that accidents, traffic, trains, weather, and other conditions may affect stop times, we ask that students be at their bus stop at least five minutes early to help us stay on schedule. To ensure that you are receiving all transportation related notifications, please be sure that the schools have your current email address and mobile phone number (for texts). You can update that information in ParentVUE (Website or App) or by contacting the school offices (https://www.bentleyschools.org/). Second, bus driver training has begun on the final stages of implementing the new transportation system so that parents will be able to get up-to-the-minute stop time information using a smartphone app. The app will be officially rolled out in test phases by route, beginning with the Red routes. Other routes will be announced in the coming weeks once we are confident that the app is working properly. Official Red routes’ app testing will begin on the morning of Wednesday, February 26th. Another communication will be sent on Tuesday, February 25th to the Red routes’ parents/guardians on how to access the app. If your student no longer requires transportation or if you need any other transportation assistance, please contact: Tracy Bennett Email: tbennett@bentleyschools.org Office:(810) 591-9045 Mobile: (810) 701-9256 Thank you, Transportation Department Bentley Community Schools 1170 N.
