BENTLEY COMMUNITY SCHOOLS ANNOUNCES PROCESS AND SCHEDULE TO FILL BOARD OF EDUCATION VACANCY

After 12 years of service, Ms. Renee Gatica resigned from the Bentley Community School District (BCSD) Board of Education this week as she is in the process of moving out of the District. We are appreciative of her many years of service and wish her all the best. 

As a result of this opening, BCSD Board of Education will begin accepting applications today from citizens who are interested in filling the vacant seat. 

Consistent with Section 308.614 of the Revised School Code and BCSD Board of Education Policy 0142.5, BCSD Board of Education will select a candidate to fill the vacant seat in a process that is thorough and open to the public. 

An individual is eligible to serve as a school board member if the individual is a citizen of the United States and is a qualified and registered voter of the school district. To be considered for appointment, candidates must submit a one-page letter of application and a one-page resume to the BCSD Superintendent’s Office no later than 4:00 p.m., Friday, January 31, 2020.

All interviews and meetings are open to the public and will be held in the Bentley High School Media Center, 1150 North Belsay Road, Burton, MI 48509. Initial interviews are scheduled for Wednesday, February 5, 2020. If needed, a second round of interviews for final candidates will be scheduled February 10, 2020. The BCSD Board of Education will select the new board member immediately following completion of all interviews.

 The names of the candidates and a complete schedule of interviews and meetings will be posted after applications have been submitted. Pursuant to the Revised School Code, the new board member will serve until December 31, 2020.
